Improving the visualization of rainfall trends using various innovative trend methodologies with time–frequency-based methods

Abstract In this paper, the Innovative Trend Methodology (ITM) and their inspired approaches, i.e., Double (D-ITM) Triple (T-ITM), were combined with Hilbert Huang transform (HHT) time frequency-based method. The new hybrid methods (i.e., ITM-HHT, D-ITM-HHT, T-ITM-HHT) proposed compared to DWT-based in order recommend best Three total annual rainfall series from 1920 2011 selected three hydrological basins Northern Algeria. models (ITM-HHT, revealed that 1950–1975 period has significant wet episodes followed by a long-term drought observed western region of Algeria, while Northeastern Algeria presented since 2001. approaches successfully detected, visible manner, hidden trends signals, which proves removal some modes variability original signals can increase accuracy used approaches.
